First scientific paper of the Paralimits team 1 junio, 2023

The paralimits team has published our first paper focusing on the barriers faced by student-athletes with/out disabilities in achieving a dual career combining studies and sports.

The study involved two groups of student-athletes, one with disabilities and one without disabilities, and collected data on socio-demographic aspects and barriers towards achieving a good balance between sport and academics during the dual career.

The results showed that student-athletes with disabilities perceived barriers more strongly than those without disabilities, particularly in balancing study and training time, distance from university and training site, family responsibilities, and job constraints.

The study highlights the need for measures to ensure the inclusion of student-athletes with disabilities in the education system and to address the barriers they face in pursuing a dual career.
